Posada 2024
What is Posada?
Posada (the Spanish word for Inn) is a Mexican tradition where Mary & Joseph are hosted on their journey to Bethlehem. We’re basing our Posada journey on this tradition with Mary & Joseph travelling around our Parish and staying with various people over Advent. There is an opportunity to share your experiences of hosting the family and whoever hosts them leading on to Christmas Eve is asked to bring them to our Crib Service in church.
It’s really helpful for us organising if you’re happy for us to share your contact details with the people hosting immediately before and after you (at least your address so they know where to come!) Then you can be in touch to arrange the handover and perhaps even share a drink too. We’d also love to see and hear about your hosting of the Holy Family so do share this with us however you are able.
Finally, it gives us an opportunity to remember those who rely on the kindness of those in communities to host them and those who are often treated as outsiders. There will be some simple prayers you can use while you’re hosting Mary & Joseph. Any questions, please get in touch with us.
How does it work?
-
Book your dates
The first thing to do is book what date(s) you'd like to host Mary & Joseph. You can choose as many as you like and we'll work out the rest. To do this, click the button below.
-
Host the Family
Don't worry - they're just figures of Mary & Joseph! There will be a diary too if you want to write an entry and do take photos and share with us either via e-mail or social media.
-
Pass them on
When you've hosted the family, we ask you to take them to their next destination and hand them over. Perhaps you'd event like to share a drink when you do so. It's all about sharing!
