St. John’s Catch Up 14/03/2023

 Dear All,

Our mums are so important, in a special sort of way,

They love us and help us,  on each and every day.

Once a year we think of them and all they do for us,

A special bond, they give their love, never with a fuss.

They never ask for thanks, just get on with all the chores,

Whether cooking or ironing or just washing all the floors.

It is the things we take for granted, that makes a special mum,

Just look back and reflect on those days all filled with fun.......... So on this coming Sunday, we give thanks for all the mums, with prayers and hymns, a little primrose and  biscuits  to fill their tums!

We hope you and the little ones, or not so little ones, can join us this Sunday at 9.15. to celebrate our Mums. I will also have the cabin open and heated for anyone who wants to pop in there should you need to.

ALL AGE FAMILY SERVICE 4PM.

Last Sunday we enjoyed the family All  Age Service at 4pm.  We also enjoyed the chocolate brownies that  Mark Peacock had  made! Thanks to Lisa and Mark for doing the refreshments this time. There were not as many as normal , perhaps we were competing with Rugby! Those of us  that were there really enjoyed the service , especially the little ones.   Tom has developed this family service over these past few months , creating a lovely relaxed service for all ages. We have introduced simple readings and the hymns and prayers use the screen. Although we will not have this service next month as It will be Easter Sunday it will return in May so do come and enjoy this special and  form of  worship.

SUNDAY CLUB.

The Sunday Club always meets on the 1st Sunday of the month. However, next month the 1st Sunday falls on Palm Sunday and in May it falls on the Coronation weekend. Sally, Helen and Vicky have therefore decided to hold Sunday Club on the third Sunday for the next two months. We will remind all as we approach the dates.

EASTER SERVICES.

I am pleased to be able to confirm the following Easter Services.:

2nd April  PALM SUNDAY.  10.30 The service will be a Parish Service at St Mary’s in Hurley.   .......No Service at St John’s

6th April MAUNDY THURSDAY.  7.30PM Evening Eucharist and the stripping of the Altar and Vigil.

8th April Saturday 4pm Easter Vigil Service...this will be outside the cabin and we will have a pit fire. The service will not be long so do come along. This is a Parish Service.

9th April  9.15 Easter Sunday Communion.

Looking at the schedule all the above services, with the exception of Palm Sunday, are at St John’s. The Easter Vigil service on the Saturday is a Parish service and if the weather is kind, it will be held outside near the cabin.

REFRESHMENTS.

I am very grateful to all of you who volunteer to help with refreshments. Without you this would fall to Sandra and myself. If you would like to go on my list please let me know.  We now are quite relaxed, no Rota, I just ask each month for volunteers .In particular it would good if some of the families could offer for the 4pm All Age Service sometimes. You don’t need to cook Brownies...although they were wonderful!

I will also  be grateful for help with refreshments for Saturday 8th for the vigil, we will offer coffee in the cabin and also for Easter Sunday. PLEASE DO LET ME KNOW. ( 01628 822282 or 07742895683)

ALEC ROWLAND FUNERAL.RIP.

The funeral of our good friend and supporter, Alec took place last Friday 10th. The church was full and Alec was buried afterwards in our new churchyard area near the Cabin. Coming so soon after the death of Derek was an added sadness. Alec was a past Church Warden. We are grateful to Kate and the family for dedicating  the collection to be shared between The Dogs Trust and The Church.

That’s it for now....we hope to see you at our service on Sunday and at one or the Easter Services we are hosting at St John’s.

God Bless.

Richard.
