“The 7th October 2023 was a golden day by the river at Hurley. As the audience gathered in the village church for the much-awaited concert featuring four young soloists, the atmosphere was happy and expectant. The acoustics in St Mary the Virgin Church are wonderful and this concert, put on by Music and Arts Hurley as a taster for the full festival in the village next May (3rd – 5th), was of a very high standard.” (Julian Stanford)

The flowers, which were all arranged by local individuals, were exquisite and provided the perfect background and atmosphere for the concert.

The word stunning was used by many of those who attended to describe the quality of the performances from all the soloists. There is more information about each soloist available here. Below is a video which shows just a little of the performances on the night.

“This inaugural event, organised by Jonathan Miall and the Burchett’s Green parish vicar Revd. Tom Etherton, bodes well for the standard and conviviality of the Music and Arts Festival Hurley planned for next year. This coming spring programme will include informal music concerts, jazz, folk groups, a spoken word event and cream teas, as well as some similarly talented classical stars of the future.” (Julian Stanford)

Join us over the weekend of 3rd - 5th May 2024 where we will be enjoying the programme being put together as you read! There will be more information going up on the Music & Arts website (see here) and on the website you can also sign up to be kept up-to-date with what is going on at the festival.
