TALKS ABOUT NEW VENTURES FOR A  NEW YEAR

I hope you all had a very happy Christmas and New Year holiday period. 1 thoroughly enjoyed Christmas but I always feel I need a holiday after Christmas to recover from  the Christmas and New Year holiday! Maybe it’s the short, often gloomy days of January that make it difficult for me to  start the New Year with a spring in my step.

Now that the daylight hours are beginning to lengthen and the snowdrops have appeared in Stubbings' churchyard maybe the time has come to enthuse about new things once again.  Here are two new ventures for us which I hope will enthuse you too:

Children's Groups

Explorers and Adventurers are two new groups for children which will happen alongside the monthly Communion Together service in Hurley. They will start on February 19.

Explorers is for pre-school children over the age of two (under twos are welcome but will need  to be accompanied by an adult) and Adventurers is for primary school children. Explorers will be led by Peter Watsham and Adventurers by Jon and Maggie Dennis. Others will be helping out. We trust that these groups wil! provide an opportunity for children to meet on a Sunday, to hear stories from the  Bible and  learn about Jesus.

The children will start in church for the first hymn or song and return at the end of the service for a blessing. The groups will also give parents an opportunity to come to a re-styled Communion Together service in church.  As a result the third Sunday Communion Together Service will start at 10:30 am instead of 9.15am. For further information please contact Peter Watsham on 01628 821023.

Alpha Course

After Easter, with help from a neighbouring church, we hope to offer an Alpha Course for those enquiring about the faith or looking for a refresher course in Christian basics. Alpha is a non-pressurised, fun and informative course. It is a place to share your thoughts and explore the meaning of life. The course runs for  10 weeks, with largely weekly evening meetings, starting with an informal meal. It includes one Saturday meeting. Details are yet to be finalised,  but if you are interested in being part of Alpha please do contact me.
