![]() There’s so much going on for the younger members
of Burchetts Green Parish... Lets talk about football, teamwork and holidays Football is like life - life is not a game that can be played on your own. As a football team needs to work together, aim to get the ball, score goals and win, we also should learn to live, work and play together. Sometimes we may need a hand to lift us up when we fall or someone by our side to keep us strong. If our team loses a game or a player makes a mistake that could cost the team dearly, we should pat him on the back and encourage him rather than knock him when he's down. In a football game, the team needs to follow the rules otherwise it would result in chaos. The team needs to work together, and not waste time fighting, or they could risk losing the game. As Gods children, we need to follow Gods rules so that we can understand his plan for our lives. We should prepare to win the game of life by working as a team with our friends and family, with God as our team captain, coach and friend. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.' 1 Corinthians 9 vs 24. Holidays Summer holidays are approaching so we also think about how God gives us holidays to have fun. When God created the world he was very busy. He worked for six days creating everything including the plants, animals and people. God could see everything that he had made and he liked the world that he had created. He was very happy and on the seventh day God said: 'Today is a special day.' He took a break from making everything and spent his time enjoying all the beautiful things he had created in his world. Read the story in Genesis 2 vs 1- 3. After the hard work we have been doing at school, holidays are when we can have some time off to enjoy everything that God has made for us. What do you like to do in the holidays or on weekends? What could you do to enjoy what God has created for us. Maybe a trip to the seaside, a walk in the country or taking time to stop and listen to the birds or smell the flowers. A busy week On Monday I do ballet On Tuesday I swim and shop with mum. On Wednesday and Thursday, it's pre-school And on Friday my friends come. On Saturday they're jobs to do: We wash and dust and bake; There's grass to mow, the car to clean And all the beds to make. But Sunday is quite different: It's God special day you see, One day out of seven That he made for you and me. God took a rest on Sunday When the world was all complete. So we should do that too, you see, Sit down and rest our feet. Amen |
Pebbles
For Parents and Toddlers there is ‘ Pebbles
’ which meets every Tuesday in the Soltau Centre at 10.30am and
every Thursday in the Priory Room, Hurley at 10.30am . We
begin with a short time of worship including a bible
story written for toddlers usually read by one of the
Mums followed by some action songs and prayer. ![]()
The children are familiar with a short
prayer which we use every week and also the Lord’s Prayer which
we use in the same format as in the Family
Services.
After the service we have an extended coffee
time with plenty of toys for the children to share. The group
is friendly and provides fellowship and support for new
parents and sometimes grandparents as well.
Newcomers are made to feel very welcome even if they are only able to join the group for a short time before going back to work. Check for dates of Pebbles. Children's Groups
We have
Sunday school on the first Sunday and third Sunday at
Stubbings. The children join in the first part of the 10:30am Parish Service
before going to the Soltau Centre, returning for the final blessing. At the
11:15am Holy Communion Service children meet in the Soltau Centre and join the
service for a blessing. A creche is available at both Services. On the Second Sunday in the month we hold Family Services at Hurley at 10.30am. On the forth Sunday in the month we hold a Family Service at Stubbings at 10.30am. See you there!
